We need to show comparison between latest cost of plan and average cost of earlier plans and show delta (different between latest and average) using charts, below is the sample data, which type of chart would be better?, should it be clustered bar chart?
latest row is highlighted in yellow, earlier rows are highlighted in blue
example lastest cost is 40 in yellow
average of all cost in blue is 30
delta is 40-30=10
Hey @powerbiexpert22 ,
as a semantic model does not have an implicit ordering of rows (you name is plan) it's required to identify the latest row. This can be done by date and ..., but it's essntial that the latest row can be identified. If you can not add a rownumber to the data then it can become difficult. Of course, it's possible also possible to compare an average of the latest rows with the average of all other rows.
If you need help crafting a DAX statement, I recommend that you rreate a pbix that contains sample data but still reflects your semantic model (tables, relationships, calculated columns, and measures). Upload the pbix to OneDrive, Google Drive, or dropbox and share the link here in this thread.
Regarding your question about the visualization type, comparing two valuest (latest vs average) I prefer a clustered column chart. Here you will find a list of data visualization tasks and often used data visualization types: https://github.com/Financial-Times/chart-doctor/blob/main/visual-vocabulary/README.md.
Hopefully, this helps to tackle your challenge.
Regards,
Tom
