Where do .pbix files get saved to?

This is my 1st post here so my apologies up front if this is the wrong place.

I recently downloaded the PBI app into Microsoft Teams. I went in and created a Teams Activity Analytics report. I opened it up, messed around with it a bit, then closed it up and moved on. Later on, I went into the Files app in Teams and noticed that the .pbix was not there in the Recents tab in the Files app in Teams. I know Teams looks at OneDrive and SharePoint for files, so do .pbix files get saved somewhere else that the files app in Teams doesnt see it?

Hi @motto518 ,

You can open the Power BI application in Teams to view it in the contents of My workspace.
After you have created a report in Teams using Power BI, it will be displayed in your Power BI Teams application and saved to your My workspace. The report is now yours. As with any of your reports, you can view it in Teams or in Power BI Services. You can edit it, save a copy of it, or download the .pbix file to edit it on the Power BI desktop.

It can be found in the official documentation , for more , please see here .

Hope it helps,

How did you create the report? If you didn't create it with Power BI desktop, then it's probably stored in the Power BI Service.

It was all done in the Power BI App that I downloaded directly in Microsoft Teams. Literally everything was done directly from Microsoft Teams. I opened the PBI app from the left rail of Teams, clicked Create at the top, then chose the far right option for the Teams Activity Analytics Report. Am I safe to assume that "My Workspace" in PBI Service is its one storage entity that is not connected/associated to OneDrive or SharePoint at all, being the reason that the .pbix does not show up in the Recent section of the Files App in Teams?

@motto518 : One option is click "Go to Website" , this will take you the site its hosted (workspace). You will be able to see which workspace its stored into.

This app is basically just like using the Power BI Service in your browser (app.powerbi.com) and doesn't save files to OneDrive or SharePoint.

That said, you can download the .pbix file if you want to. Open the report in the workspace it lives in and get it from the File dropdown. (Note: This option is not available if you access the report as part of a published Power BI app. You need to access the report within the workspace.)
