What is the best solution to query a dataset before loading it to PowerBi?

We have millions of rows of data stored in a delta parquet file. PowerBi can only handle one million rows. We would like to use a query with parameters before loading the data in PowerBi. We are using Azure.
Do you know a solution?

Hi @dgiessing ,

Sounds like you are talking about a Direct Query scenario? Then you can bind report filters to query parameters. Maybe this is what you are looking for: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-dynamic-m-query-parameters

Depending on which technology you use to access the delta table and whether it's apropriate for your data model you can even pass the query parameter to a SQL stored procedure to do in the backend whatever you need to do, like so https://prologika.com/power-bi-dynamic-m-query-parameters-reloaded/
