What is a good workflow to share often updated visuals? App?

Hello,

I have several Visual reports that I want to share with my collagues. I preapre them in my own workspace (something as staging area).

Whe the version is ready, I put them to our shared workspace.

But When I do that it will create NEW Visual and dont replace the old one. So it created new link for them.

So I tried to put these visuals in workspace to new App. Which mostly keeps the same URL, but I need to delete the old visuals and put the new one in the app. And all their personal bookmarks is deleted at that moment.

I think there has to be better solution for this process. Right? Any help please?

Thx.

Hi rajendraongole1, thanks for the quick reply, I'll add more.

Hi @mskarka ,

Regarding your question, 'Deployment Pipeline' should meet your needs. Make sure you have a PPU license yourself, or the workspace is hosted in Premium Capacity.

Get started using deployment pipelines, the Fabric Application lifecycle management (ALM) tool - Mic...

The normal process is as follows:

1.Creation of two state, “development” and “production”.Assigning your staging workspace to the 'Development' state.

2.Select the desired reports and choose their associated semantic models to deploy together. Thereafter an additional workspace “xxxx[Production]” will be created.

3.Just set it to Pubilc and add the users you need to share into the role for that workspace. Each time you finish your report in the staging workspace, it can be deployed in the pipeline and the user's personal bookmarks will not be lost.

Hi @mskarka - You create a it using deployment pipeline and map your workspaces (development, test, production) to the different stages. When you update the report in the development workspace and are ready to push it, you can deploy it to the next stage, and it will overwrite the previous version without creating a new report or URL.This solution is ideal for ensuring continuity and a smooth transition between report versions.

or

You can also consider implementing a Bookmark Manager solution that helps users save and manage their bookmarks if any disruptions happen during deployment. Some third-party Power BI tools offer enhanced bookmark management capabilities.

Thx for our reply. But I actaully have no idea what tool to use to map workspaces. If I save visual with same name to the existing workspaaces, it will ust create a copy, not rewrite it. So what am I doing wrong or missing?
