What happens if the Pro Licence expires?

Hello everyone!

If the Power BI Pro license expires, what happens to the work areas, datasets and data flows?

Do they disappear or become inaccessible ?
Do I have to reinstall the gateways?

Hi @edubcardoso ,

Power BI Pro is an individual per-user license that lets users create content and also read, and interact with content that others have published to the Power BI service. Users with this license type can share content and collaborate with other Power BI Pro users.

If your Power BI Pro license expires and is not renewed, workspaces, datasets and dataflows will be inaccessible. There is a grace period after the Power BI Pro license expires. For volume-purchased licenses, the grace period is 90 days. If you purchased the license directly, the grace period is 30 days. However, if you are granted access or workspaces are in Premium capacity, you’ll still have access to them.

And I think that you don’t need to reinstall the gateway. The user installing the gateway must be the admin of the gateway, regardless of whether it owns Pro license or not.

It is my understanding that if your license expires then that affects your access only.  But, that is based on this being an active tenant with other users.  If you have your own tenant that you are using as a trial, and you license expires, I believe that you wil lget an email from Microsoft telling you how many days you ahve until the data is deleted if you don't buy another license.  I am not sure if that is 30, 60 or 90 days.

The rule of thumb is that if you want to see a report in the Service, you have to have a license so without a license your ability to get there will go away.  But, that won't affect other users if they already have permissions.
