Using a data source in SharePoint without configuring the On-premises data gateway

Hi. On the project, as one of the data sources, I need to use xlsx files stored in SharePoint and to configure scheduled refreshing, I need to use the On-premises data gateway, but I would like to know if there is a way to import and refresh data from these files without using gateway? Thanks.

It depends on whether you're using SharePoint Online or on-premise. SharePoint Online does not require the gateway, on-premise does. The connection method varies depending on whether you're trying to combine multiple similarly structured files or not.
