Use Personal Credentials Data source

Dear All,

I'm trying to share the reports and I'm wondering if there is a possibility to make sure the user have to use there personal credentials to the data source.

All the users have their own credentials to the datasource, and can only access the data they are authorized for.

Therefor I would like to share a report to them, and by making use of the authentification which is already in place on the source source, so they only can see the the data they have auhorization for.  (Example. In the same report, person A should see 'different dat than person B base on their authorizations on  the data source)

Right now I only can find a possibility to make use of the Data Gateway- Data source setting to store credentials to data source, on a Report Level. And I'm looking for a solution to narrow this down to a User  Level.

If there is a possibility to pass through the credentials to the PowerBi portal, that would be great.

I hope this can be solved,

Thanks you in advance!

Hi @Anonymous

you need to deploy the RLS to your report, here is how?

Hi @aj1973 ,

Thanks for the quick reply!
I was wondering when deploying RLS, I'm going to to built up a new authorization model next to the existing one which is already there on the database itself. Next to that, the authorisation should be depended on the user usersname, since there isn't an option the set up a distiction based on the data ( Region etc)

Actually the best solution would be if there is a possibility for the user to log on to the data source with it's own credentials, after he opened the report in PowerBi portal. Is this even a possebility?

Ps. we are making use of a Mark Logic OBDC connection.

Thanks for helping out.
