Usage Metrics Report Save
Hi,
I'm attempting to save a generated Usage Metrics Report for a workspace with the intent to build ontop of the stock/pre-built visuals.
Following the guide Monitor usage metrics in workspaces (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn - I've saved a copy of the report to our workspace (where I have admin). However the report does not appear in the workspace once saved. It does appear in home, and in OneLake Catalog. This is the first issue - being that I want other users to access the report through the workspace.
The second issue is the edit button does not appear in the saved copy of the report. When clicking 'view semantic model' I get:
Optimally I would like to download and edit in desktop, however I believe this functionality doesn't exist. If anyone is able to assist with issue 1 (not appearing in workspace) and 2 (unable to edit) that would be great.
Lack of an edit button:

Hi JamieF,
This seems to be a recent service regression.
This was also reported here: https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/Usage-Metrics-is-not-visible-in-Workspace-after-saving-a-copy/m-p/4862373#M289211
I have raised a ticket with Microsoft and am waiting to hear back.

Thanks Tayloramy, you mention 'For now I recommend making a new report in Power BI Desktop connecting back to the Usage Metrics semantic model.' - when doing this I noticed the data is only available for the prior 30 days. 2 questions if you're able to help:
1. Would this be the case anyway if there was no bug with saving the usage report to a workspace?
2. Is there a way to access a greater period of history (optimally looking for 2 years, or 1 year min)?- tayloramySuper User
Hi JamieF,
I'm not positive on this one, but I think the usage metrics report only has 90 days of data, at least there's references to that in the docs: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-usage-metrics

I have submitted a ticket to Microsoft about this bug - saving a copy of the usage metrics report should make that copy visible in the workspace. I'lll update here once I get a response.

Hi JamieF,
Microsoft just gave me a workaround for being able to find the new copy of usage metrics that you created.
In teh Fabric experience, if you click more and the browse from the left navigation pane:
the copy report will appear:
The product team knows this is an issue and is working on a fix, but for now this is the workaround for accessing the report.

Thanks Tayloramy - Interested to hear when they solve this. Additionally I'm still unable to edit this report - do you know if this is all wrapped up in the same bug? Or is this a me problem?

HI JamieF,
YOu can't edit the default usage metrics report, but when you make a copy you should be able to edit that one (even though you can't see it in the UI).
Are you not able to edit the copy?
I will test in my environment tomorrow to see if this is occuring with me as well.

Hi JamieF,
If the issue still persists, I’d recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft. The support team can look into the backend and provide more in-depth assistance tailored to your environment.

Hi JamieF,
Just checking, have you had a chance to open a support ticket, as suggested. If so, we'd love to hear the current status or any updates from that.
If the issue was resolved through the support ticket, it would be great if you could share the solution here as well. It could really help other community members find answers more quickly.
Warm regards,
Prasanna Kumar
