When trying to use scheduled refresh to fetch data from an Excel file from Sharepoint online, we get the following message:
Excel Workbook: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine 2010 Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987.
So this means the Power BI servers don't support Excel files. So I tried using a personal gateway for this, but unfortunatally, we're unable to select a gateway to use with a Sharepoint Online datasource.
What would be a solution to use an Excel file from Sharepoint online?

Hi @RoelVB,
Current power bi sharepoint refresh only support excel files with .xlsx or .xlsm format, if you use other type files, it may alert this error message.
You can refer to below article to know more about this.
Power BI supports importing or connecting to workbooks created in Excel 2007 and later. Workbooks must be saved as .xlsx or .xlsm file type and be under 1 GB. Some features described in this article are only available in later versions of Excel.
