Hi,
I have a dataset consisting of two Excel files on a Sharepoint Online site. When publishing the report to Power BI Service, I am unable to connect to the Excel files in order to automatically update the dataset. I get this error message:
If I try to edit credentials and select Oauth2, I get this error message:
If I try Basic authentication and enter my credentials (which I know have access to the Sharepoint site with the Excel files) I get this error message:
Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you!
Sorry, it's a setting in Power BI Desktop. So you should download the report and go to the settings there.
Also, use either Organizational account or Basic to do the authentication.
Thanks again, I found the setting you suggested, but I get the same error message still.
@Anonymous Thanks for the suggestion, I cannot find the settings you suggested in Power BI Service? Which menu?I tried the settings menu, but there's no Security option there.
Hi,
This is a problem with Edge and PBI.
Make sure a browser other than Edge is your default browser (like Chrome).
Go to your Power BI settings > Security > use my default browser
Now go back to your data source settings and update them using your preferred option.
This worked for me.
