Trying to scheduled refresh to an OLAP source with usn/pw and not windows authentication

Hello,

I have an OLAP data source which I authenticate with username and password successfully when I query in the report, but I am looking to setup scheduled refresh with personal gateway.

When I navigate to the dataset settings and click to edit credentials, it only provides windows authentication as an option.

Is it possible to connect with usn/pw? Screenshot attached

Any help will be appreciated 🙂

Hi there

An OLAP source can only authenticate with a Windows Username and password.

Just use the same Username and password you use when authenticating in Power BI Desktop?

Sorry for the long delay - back to trying to build in PowerBI vs SSRS

I am able to connect to the OLAP server (vendors) using basic login credentials entering my username and password from my Desktop but not on the service. 

That's the problem, I cant use the same username and password because there is no option to even enter. 

Strange that its supported on desktop but not service.

Hi there

Find out what the domain name is that you need to use and you can put that into the UserName option

It should follow the format of DOMAIN\Username and password

NOTE: That when setting up the Gateway the domain username must have Admin access to the SSAS Server.
