I'm trying to connect to an Analysis Services database in Power BI Service. When trying to connect live directly in the service, it says the connection method is being deprecated. Trying to publish the desktop file instead, it won't let me add credentials to the gateway. I'm trying to use a service account, which can access the Analysis Services database in SSMS successfully. This is the error message that I am getting when trying to add the data source in the gateway:
Hi @Anonymous
Please check if you are able to connect to this SSAS server from the gateway server, try doing telnet(connectivity test) first to ensure the connectivity is there.
If the gateway is installed on a physical desktop, and that desktop is able to connect to the SSAS database in SSMS, does that mean the connection is open?
Yes, does your desktop id by which you are logged in has got access on SSAS server?
Yes, it has access to view the database data and its components, sources, etc.
Please can you confirm your datasource, is it Azure Analysis Services?
It is a SQL Server Analysis Services connection
Please can you shar eyour data source settings?
Also which gateway are you using and its version?
What level of access the account has on SSAS?
Is it hosted on default port 2383 or any other port?
It is on the default port 2383, the access level for the AD group is Read on the cube (Kerberos authentication), gateway version 3000.110.5 Dec 2021 release 2
