Using Power BI Desktop I have a model that uses two data sources
1 is a SQL database and the other is a CSV file located in SharePoint online enabled via the WEB link.
In the desktop version this works well.
When I publish it and look at it online I get a message that the Data Source Web is missing credentials and cannot be accessed.
When I look at the credentials on the desktop app this is what I have.
Any assistance as to how I can fix this?

Hi @AmandaHore ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.
Please follow below steps:
1. Go to Power BI Service (https://app.powerbi.com/). Find your workspace where you published the report.
Go to: Workspace ➔ Datasets + Dataflows ➔ Find your Dataset ➔ Settings.
2. Under Data source credentials, you should see something like: Web – showing an error (credentials missing).
Click Edit Credentials for the Web source. Set it like this: Authentication method: Organizational Account (NOT anonymous!). Sign in with your Microsoft 365 / SharePoint account. Privacy Level: Organizational (just like in your desktop settings) & Save.
Note:
If you used a SharePoint "browser" link (like the one you copy directly from the address bar), it may not behave perfectly.
For SharePoint Online files, it’s better to use the SharePoint folder connector instead of just "Web."
But what you have can still work with the right authentication.
3. Re-authenticate Data Source:
Sometimes, re-authenticating the data source can resolve credential issues. Try unlinking and linking the data source connection again from Power Query > Manage connections .
4. Clear Browser Cache:
Clearing the browser cache can sometimes resolve issues related to credential settings. After clearing the cache, try accessing the Power BI Service again .
5. Create a New Dataflow:
If the issue persists, create a new sample dataflow with the same data source and check if the data source credentials are enabled in the new dataflow's settings.
6. Export and Import Dataflow:
Export the existing dataflow to a Power Query template and import it into a new dataflow. This can sometimes enable the data source credentials in the new dataflow's settings.
7. Check Permissions:
Ensure that the user account used for accessing the SharePoint Online CSV file has the necessary permissions. Verify that the account has read access to the file and is correctly configured in the Power BI Service.

Thank you for your detailed reply.
I am having trouble finding the dataset settings to update the data source credentials.
I cannot see anything that is called either of these 2 names. Can you share with me via a screenshot where these settings would be.
This issue typically arises because Power BI Service requires proper authentication for web-based data sources like SharePoint Online. Here's how you can resolve it:
Set Credentials in Power BI Service:
Go to the Power BI Service and navigate to your dataset settings.
Under "Data Source Credentials," locate the Web data source.
Click "Edit Credentials" and select the appropriate authentication method (e.g., OAuth2 for SharePoint Online).
Enter your credentials and save.
Ensure Correct Authentication Method:
SharePoint Online usually requires OAuth2 authentication. If you're using a different method, it might not work.
Check Gateway Configuration:
If you're using an on-premises data gateway for the SQL database, ensure that the gateway is configured to handle both data sources.
Add the Web data source to the gateway and authenticate it.
Verify Permissions:
Ensure that your account has the necessary permissions to access the SharePoint Online file.
Update the Web Link:
Double-check the URL of the CSV file in SharePoint Online. Ensure it's the direct link to the file and not a preview or page link.

Ritesh
