Hi,
We are working on a script to update data source connections of multiple reports. When we use the below API to take over the report and update data sources, the gateway settings are reset. Is there any way to add gateway to the paginated report data source from PowerBI rest api.

Hi, @Anonymous
In my understand about the "The user must be the data source owner." , you can try to ask the data source owner give you also the "Owner" role for this data source to check if it can be modified.
For this , you can also refer to :

I tried using the update data source api, but its not allowing me to update the data source without taking over the report. It mentions a limitation that only the data source owner cant update the data source.

Hi , @Anonymous
Based on my test and research, whenever we took over one dataset from one user to another user, the dataset setting won't be saved for the previous user and we need to configure them again for the security reason, so if there's a chance to skip the take over dataset process but directly using the update data sources/ update gateway kind of these rest APIs and checking if they can meet your automatic requirement?
