Hi @Sreenivasulu199

That error means the admin_totalshared field your report is using is missing, renamed, or no longer available in the dataset. This often happens when the data model changes after publishing.

  • In Power BI Desktop, check if the field still exists and is spelled correctly.
  • If it’s renamed or removed, update or remove any visuals/measures that reference it.
  • If the dataset comes from a shared app, confirm the source dataset is still active and unchanged.
  • After fixing, refresh the dataset and republish the report.

Hi Sreeeni,

Wish we had more information.

This error typically occurs when a field in your Power BI report or dataset, such as admin_totalshared, is missing, renamed, or no longer available in the underlying data source. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve it:

Steps to Fix:

  1. Check the Dataset in Power BI Desktop:

    • Open your report in Power BI Desktop and verify if the admin_totalshared field exists in the data model.
    • If the field has been renamed or removed, update or remove any visuals, measures, or calculations referencing it.
  2. Inspect Data Source Changes:

    • Confirm that the data source (e.g., SQL Server, Excel, etc.) still includes the admin_totalshared field.
    • If the field was removed or renamed in the source, update the data model in Power BI to reflect these changes.
  3. Refresh the Dataset:

    • Refresh the dataset in Power BI Desktop and ensure there are no errors during the refresh process.
    • Re-publish the updated report to the Power BI Service.
  4. Verify Gateway Configuration:

    • If you’re using an on-premises data gateway, ensure it’s running and properly configured to access the data source

If the issue persists, you can also check the error details (Activity ID, Request ID, and Correlation ID) and contact Microsoft Support for further assistance. Let me know if you need help with any specific step!

Hi @Sreenivasulu199 ,

As mentioned @rohit1991 & @ribisht17 , the issue is likely due to the field admin totalshared being missing, renamed, or no longer available in your dataset. This typically happens when the data model changes after the report is created or published.

I also found a similar thread in the Power BI Community that might help you troubleshoot please review it to see if it matches your situation.

Additionally, as @johnbasha33 suggested, providing more details about the error, such as when it occurs, the source of your dataset, and any recent changes, would assist in identifying and resolving the problem more effectively.

If there is any post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution  to help the other members find it more quickly.
