Shared link of dashboard in service

Hello All,

Is there a solution available to restrict users from submitting access requests through the shared link on our PBI dashboard hosted in PBI service?

Users shouldn't be able to raise a request when they open the shared link

Hi @Kiran147

Yeah, you're right.

To better help you, I need to confirm with you that the problem you're currently experiencing is that when you share a link to a user, the user opens it and needs to send a request to view it? But you want to be able to view it without sending a request, right?

If so, it should be because that user lacks permissions. How are you sharing the link? You can check if the corresponding user has permissions through Manage permissions.

Here you can see all the users with permissions, if there is no corresponding user, you can choose to Add user to give him corresponding permissions.

I hope the above helps.

Hi @Kiran147

To prevent users from submitting access requests in Power BI Service:

  1. Go to the workspace containing the report.
  2. Click the gear icon (Settings) and select Permissions.
  3. Turn "Allow access requests" off.

This will stop users from being able to submit access requests when accessing shared reports.

I don't see the option to turn off allow access requests for a dashboard.

When I click on ... It has manage permissions option but not allow access requests off.

If you know the solution can you share a snippet of it. Thanks for your time

Hi @Kiran147

Thanks for the reply from Poojara_D12 .

After testing, I'm afraid it's not possible to restrict users from sending requests, but it is possible to set no notifications.

Hi Yulia,

Thanks for your suggestion!

Am just thinking if I do set notifications off, this will be applied to all dashboards but not for specific dashboard right?

My requirement is with specific dashboard in workspace. Upon research, I think we cant set requests off.
