Shared Datasets - 401 error on download PBIX

Hi,

We have a workspace "A" with shared dataset "HR analytics". Then I've build a report "Analytics one" with the desktop and published this to workspace "B". Users in workspace "B" can access the report in the service and can edit it. They can also create new reports on the shared dataset with the desktop version. However when they publish these to workspace "B" they cannot download them anymore from the service with the error message:

Statuscode: 401

Serviceversie: 13.0.10882.187
Versie van client: 1909.4.014

The user has access to the dataset in workspace "A" with read, reshare and build and is admin of the workspace "B" , so there aren't any additional rights available to grant The strange thing is that they can access the DS with the desktop client but loose the rights when it's published. Creating a copy of this report is possible, also editing it in the service, but they just cannot download it.

hi, @Anonymous

There is a known 401 error issue and is fixed by end-of-day 10/1/2019.

Please try it again.

Hi, I just checked with our user. Still the same message. Seems like the download has another way of verifying security settings.

@Anonymous  Can you please refer the limitations.

Hi, these are considered.

- user has access to the report in the PBI service

- report has been created by the user in PBI desktop previous week and has been published to the workspace by the user.

- other reports can be downloaded (which are not shared datasets)

It only applies for shared datasets across the new workspace experience.

So it seems that security is evaluated in another way for the download then within the service or desktop.
