We have a really old gateway 2021 - when we use dataflows in the service it refreshses fine.
However when using the latest PBI desktop and publishing to the servicue we find it intermittanlty comes ujpw ith cant find the gateway. This is only hapenning with those models.
Is the version of connector used in the desktop different to the service for dataflows?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes, the version of the connector used in Power BI Desktop may differ from the version used in the Power BI service for dataflows. This discrepancy can sometimes lead to compatibility issues and intermittent errors, such as the one you're experiencing with the gateway.
Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Update Power BI Desktop: Ensure that you're using the latest version of Power BI Desktop. Microsoft regularly releases updates to Power BI Desktop, including bug fixes and improvements to connectors and dataflow functionality. Updating to the latest version may resolve compatibility issues.
Check Gateway Compatibility: Verify that the version of the on-premises data gateway you're using is compatible with the version of Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service. Older versions of the gateway may not support all features or be fully compatible with the latest versions of Power BI.
Review Error Messages: Take note of any specific error messages or codes you encounter when experiencing the "can't find the gateway" issue. These messages can provide valuable insights into the root cause of the problem and help guide your troubleshooting efforts.
Gateway Configuration: Double-check the configuration of the on-premises data gateway in the Power BI service. Ensure that the gateway is installed and configured correctly, and that it's associated with the dataset and dataflows that you're trying to refresh.
