Hi there,
I have a report I wish to share with someone. I want to use simple publish to web with open URL; however I wish to apply the iFRAME URL to a temporary webpage that will timeout/expire in a certain number of hours, i.e. 48hrs. I do not want the recipient to know about the open iFRAME URL either. To go a step further, I wish to know who accessed the page (through authentication of some sort) and also a hit counter so that I know how many times the page was accessed.
Any suggestions please?
Thank you.
Hi @SachinC,
In Power BI, when we use Publish to web, the report or visual you publish can be viewed by anyone on the Internet. There is no authentication used when viewing these reports. For your requirement, you can use Embedding with Power BI , the token will be expired around one hour. For detail information regarding embed Power BI report in a application, you can post a thread in Developer forum.
To view who access the Power BI report, we can utilize Power BI audit log feature. For more information, see: Using auditing within your organization. But if you want to know who access the application, then you need to do it on your application side.

Hi there,
What about pinning a chart to a dashboard and sharing the dashboard? Obviously this will mean the recipient will need to be in the same Office 365 org as the sender, is this correct or can the recipient be outside of the Office 365 org?
I seem to recall when sharing a dashboard that you can allow access (link via email) and revoke access too?
Could this be another option other than PowerBI embedded?
Please advise.
Hi @SachinC,
In Power BI, you can share a dashboard inside or outside your organization, but you and your recipients need a Power BI Pro license. Dashboard owner can also stop sharing dashboard. For more information, see: Share dashboards with coworkers and others.
Personally think this method is easier and better than embed with Publish to web URL.
Best Regards,
