Hello,
I’m working with two Power BI reports that use the same DataBricks datasource, connected via a Personal Access Token (from a different tenant). I took the first report, made some minor adjustments (theme and a few visuals), and uploaded it as a second report to a Power BI Premium Workspace. We need both versions live for comparison, as we’re deciding which one to keep.
The problem is that the second report isn’t updating the data properly. Although the refresh works multiple times during the day, when I check the report next day by downloading it and opening it in Power BI Desktop, the latest data timestamp is always around 17:55. Despite the scheduled refresh showing as successful, the data doesn’t seem to update after this time, and the next day it won’t refresh automatically. Manual refresh in the Power BI service updates the data correctly.
Here’s what I’ve tried and observed:
Details:
Does anyone have insights into why the second report would fail to update the data, even though the refresh status shows as successful?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @steno - Check both Power BI and DataBricks logs around 17:55 to see if any errors or disconnections occur during that time.Retry with a Different Token: Try generating a fresh Personal Access Token for the second report and see if the problem persists.Refresh Scheduling Adjustment: Modify the refresh schedule of the second report to ensure it doesn’t overlap with any other data refreshes.
In Power BI, ensure that direct query mode (if applicable) is properly configured and that the gateway (if used) doesn't have caching enabled. Additionally, check for any delays in the gateway that might prevent a full refresh.
Also, verify whether any background dataflow refresh limits are causing a throttle or lag in the data refresh.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, contacting Power BI support or reviewing detailed refresh logs might help uncover deeper issues related to the Premium workspace or the DataBricks connection.

Hi, @steno
Clear the cache and try, or consider recreating the second report to make sure all the settings and configurations are the same as before, and then try to see if you can schedule a refresh, maybe the update data is lagging behind.
