I'm confident I had this working before, but a couple of weeks have passed and I see that my data refresh seems to have been disabled.
I'm now being asked to created "gateway" which I've never had to do before.
My situation is pretty straightforward:
I have a report that I created in the desktop. (all the data sources live in either an excel file on Sharepoint...or a SharePoint list). I can refresh the report from the desktop with no issues.
However, the point of creating the SharePoint list (which gets updated at random times during a month), was so that the Power Bi report in the Service could ping it once a day...and automically refresh.
What am doing wrong?
@Anonymous - Is this in SharePoint Online. If so, you should not need a gateway. But, I've seen it happen from time to time where there is some kind of glitch in the Service and things like this happen. Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
@Greg_Deckler Thanks. The issue was with my "edit credentials" option that seemed to have been disrupted for some reason. I logged into them again and the report refreshed at midnight. Hopefully it is fixed now.
@Anonymous - Yeah, I have seen that from time to time where the credentials for a SharePoint connection just "vaporize" for some mysterious reason. Absolutely seen that over the years and have never received a proper explanation for why it occurs!
