Hi All,
Our legacy Dataset has been refreshing just fine until this morning when it started failing for the following error:
Note there is no context what is failing or where to find it, in addition the Dataset refreshes fine on Desktop. My understanding is that it should point to a field or value where the error is occuring?
I am stumped here because the only way forward I can think is going through each field to check for errors (even though it refreshes there) which would be a like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Thanks all for your help,
F
Harden you code. Don't allow Power Query to suggest or change field types. Avoid using numeric field types unless you are 100% certain they always contain numbers. Add steps to remove errors, remove nulls (if applicable) or to replace them with a number. Use the try ... otherwise ... construct. Use SelectColumns rather than RemoveColumns etc.
In a Premium environment if you have made any meta data changes to your report you must also update the app.
Thank you for your responese and tips, I will keep them in mind when we are building the newer, cleaner data model.
Unfortunately that doesn't help me figure out the issue with the current dataset as I still need to find the error and fix it, I can't build a new dataset file of this size and complexity.
Two thoughts:
1. Compare the time and effort you spend on chasing this with the time a rebuild would take.
2. If you have a Pro license you can consider raising a Pro ticket at https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/support/pro/
