Hi,
Is this intended to happen?
When doing a "save as" on a PBI Desktop report that is connected to a live dataset (e.g. another PBI dataset), the resultant report is also connected to that dataset.
In Power BI Service, doing a "save as" appears to do the same thing until you download the resultant report, and instead of being connected to a live dataset, it duplicates the dataset it is connected to. Downloading the original, does not duplicate the dataset.
If I use calculations based on Today() in my report and then do a Save As everyday will the data in these reports still change everyday or will it stay exactly the same as when the report is saved?
For example if I save my report as 24/04/2019 and I look at from the 25/04/2019 onwards will all of my calculations change?
Hi @Anonymous ,

What do you mean "duplicate the dataset"? Where is the duplicated dataset hosted? Based on my test, "Save as" a report on Power BI service, it won't duplicated the dataset on service.
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
Correct. It doesn't appear to duplicate the dataset until you download the copy... then it does...
