Row Level Security

Hi guys

I've been playing around with row level security, and finding it all a bit confusing. My aim is to have one client-facing dashboard that we can provide access to different customer's data.

One of the limitations with guest users is that they have to have accessed a report on our service before we can add to a role, so we have to invite customers to a dummy report first...

My main concern, however, is that we seem to have to share the report with the guest user, as well as adding them to the row level security role. This means there is a risk that we do not add them to the role.

Is there a more robust approach to this? I.e. we only add to the role

Thanks

Hey,

maybe you might try to ask the external users for the email they are using, and add this email to the Azure Active Directory.

I guess this will allow you add this email to a role before you invite the user to your Power BI App.

Regards,
Tom

Thanks for the reply Tom

So in this case, I would set up different Azure security groups for my different customers

When adding the guest user, we would then add them to the Azure security group?

Yes, exactly!

Regard,
Tom
