Hi
I am hoping someone can help in my understanding of the process I need to use.
I have a PBIX file which I have saved on Sharepoint. I used Get Data in the Power BI service to load this report to my workspace. I then used this report in my App.
I now have made some changes and added additional tables and charts into the report saved on Sharepoint and would like to refresh the version in the Power BI service with my changes. The only way I can see to do this is to delete the existing copy and then use Get Data to update with the new copy. Is there now way of telling Power BI to pull in the new PBIX?
If I delete the existing copy and then update with a new copy I have to delete the relevant sheets from my app and then resetup the App. Am I missing something? Would it be better to publish the PBIX from Power BI Desktop rather than use Get Data? Any assistance as to a better process would be greatly appreciated.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Have you tried to upload the same PBIX file from Getdata, Is it consider it as new one or existing one.
Can you please confirm.
In that case, instead of using the sharepoint PBIX file. Try to publish the same file from Power BI Desktop to Service. Then it will over write with the existing one with the latest changes.

Hi @JHob ,
Based on your description, you want to modify the string that connects to the data source and add a new data source.
It is not allowed to change the connection string.
You can refer to this thread:https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Developer/Change-Connection-String-from-Power-BI-Services/m-p/19678...
Best Regards,
Liang
