Refresh failed: unknown error

I have a very simple dashboard that shows data from an excel sheet.  I pin a range of cells to the dashboard.  That's the extent of the dashboard and this has been working for a couple of months.  This dashboard is viewed on a couple of monitors via Yodeck.  As of yesterday, the data sent to Yodeck is blank except for the title and subtitle. The excel file is in Sharepoint and I uploaded it within Power Bi.  The error message shown at the top of the page is: "Some of the dashboard tiles didn't load".  When I click on "Show Details", a little image appears by the title and hovering the mouse over that, it shows "Refresh failed: Unknown error".

I've uploaded other excel files and try to do the same thing by pinning some cells to the dashboard and get the same error.  I've created test dashboards and followed the same processes and get the same results.  I've modifed the excel sheet data to be in table format and that doesn't help either.

Any ideas out there why this stopped working?

Hi, @MZHalmi

Based on your description, you are experiencing an issue with Power BI dashboards and data not loading correctly. You can try some of the following steps to resolve the problem:

1. Please check the data source connection again, the error message "Refresh failed: unknown error" usually indicates a problem with the data source connection. Make sure that the data source (Excel file in SharePoint) is accessible, has not been deleted or renamed, and that you still have the permissions needed to access it.
2. Check tile permissions, the error message "Tile Error Code 10" indicates a permissions issue. Make sure you have the rights to view the tile and open the workbook.

If the above methods do not help, please provide us with data that can help us simulate the problem without sensitive information.

How to get your questions answered quickly --  How to provide sample data in the Power BI Forum

Thanks for the feedback Yang.

1. The excel file is in Sharepoint where it has been for the last few months.  I assume I still have the permissions needed to access it since I can open, edit and save it.  How do you check permissions?

2. Not sure how to check "tile permissions".  How do you do that?  I can view the exel workbook within Power Bi.

One other piece of info:   Clicking on tile details and then "technical details"  it shows "Tile error code  10"
