Refresh Error: Contains Duplicate Value

Hello PowerBI community,

I am in need of help refreshing my daily sales report. I have categories for each item in the report and needed to change an items sales category in the excel file to match what accounting has in their reporting. When I went to refresh PowerBI with this change, I received an error stating that the table "Daily Sales" contains a duplicate value and this is not allowed.

I attempted a few things. One being clearing the cache in the query editor (didnt work) and the other changing the relationships up which also didnt work.

Does anyone know anything else I can try without having to change the sales category back to the wrong one in the excel file?

Thank you!

Solution!!!

I went into query editor and removed the index column with the duplicates then re-added a new index column with new numbers.

Hi @10656645 ,

Pls test operation like the below:

1. Go to Model on the left bar and then click 'Manage relationships' under the 'Home' menu.

2. Select which relationship is causing the issue and then delete it.

3. Open Power Query and then go to the 'Add Column' menu and click 'Index Column From 1'

4. Refresh all queries and then click 'Load & Apply'.

Hi @10656645

Have you tried to refresh the report in your desktop? Before that delete all relationships to that excel sheet and refresh, then relate the table back in.
