RLS on Shared Dataset

Hello Power BI Community,

I am new to Power BI Service and seeking guidance on testing Row Level Security (RLS) for a dataset that is used across different workspaces.

Here's the scenario:

  • Workspace A contains a published dataset with RLS implemented. This workspace also hosts multiple reports based on this dataset, and we've created App A.
  • I've extended the dataset with hierarchical RLS and published it to Workspace B, where we have developed additional report bundled into App B.

Both Apps, App A and App B, utilize the same underlying dataset but with different RLS configurations. The dataset is managed in Workspace A, and its modified version (with hierarchical RLS rules) is in Workspace B.

My question is:

  1. How can I test hierarchical RLS on report which is published in Workspace B?. I am able to test RLS for workspace A. Below is the flow chart of my question.

I would greatly appreciate any insights or best practices on managing and testing RLS for shared datasets in Power BI Service, especially across different workspaces and Apps.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!
