Questions related to Data Gateway for Data Source containing merged SQL Server and Excel file

Hi,

 

I have a report with 1 excel dataset merged with another excel and 1 SQL Server data source. 2 excels are in SharePoint and SQL is on-premises.

I am aware this scenario will work only when " Allow user's cloud data sources to refresh through this gateway cluster" is applied in the Gateway Cluster Settings.

I have not applied this option in our company for security reasons.

 

1) Is there any other possible solutions out there, so that the Gateway will work when these types of merges are used for the reports? - does it work when the Composite Model is used?

OR

2) My only solution is to load the excel to SQL and then connect to the SQL?

Hi there

As far as I know currently you would either need to enable the option on the Gateway.

Or load it all into SQL Server.
