Hello everyone, I have the following scenario:
My semantic model uses series of REST API calls and an Excel file. The API is accessed anonymously including the api key in the call. The Excel is stored in OneDrive.
The Excel file has historic data that needs to be appended to one of the tables coming from the API, so I need to do that in Power Query. Following the advice from other posts, I combined them in a third table instead of doing it on the original table.
I configured both sources to be “Organizational” in the privacy settings in PBI Desktop and everything works great in the desktop, however, when I publish the model, I have two problems:
I have:
Can anyone provide some thoughts on this?

Privacy settings in the desktop will not effect in the service. Make sure you set the privacy settings of both excel source and the API source to organizational.

Thanks so much @tharunkumarRTK and @Anonymous for your help.
I was able to solve it thanks to your indications.
In summary and in case someone else experiences a similar problem, what I needed to do was:
With that, now the report refreshes without issues.
Thanks again!
Hi @RENEALVAREZM ,
As @tharunkumarRTK said, settings in Desktop don't always transfer seamlessly. I have a few additions to this that I hope will help you.
1. In Power BI Desktop, you can configure the privacy level of the data source in the data source settings. Note, however, that the configuration is not automatically transferred to the Power BI service when you upload a Power BI Desktop file. For example, you may have a desktop file with multiple data sources set to Organizations, but after uploading the file, the scheduled refresh fails because Power BI may treat these data sources as Private unless a less restrictive level is manually applied. In the Power BI service, you can use the In the Power BI service, you can set the privacy level under Advanced Settings when you add a data source to the local data gateway, as shown in the following screenshot.
2. To set up anonymous access, ensure that the data source supports anonymous access and that the API key is correctly included in the REST API call as part of the query parameters or header. You can set the data source credentials in Data source credentials by clicking on the ellipsis next to the semantic model and then clicking on SETTING.
If your Current Period does not refer to this, please clarify in a follow-up reply.
Best Regards,
Clara Gong
