PowerBi Metrics

I am a recent user to PowerBi Scorecard and Metrics. We are in the process of starting to use this feature for our FY '25 scorecard. Is it possible to auto populate historical monthly "check-ins" from connected reports? I read that this wasn't possible in the past, but hoping that this has been enhanced and enabled. Or does anyone know of any other way to quickly back populate to create a longer trend?

Power BI Scorecards do not have a built-in feature to automatically populate historical monthly "check-ins" from connected reports. However, Microsoft is constantly updating and enhancing Power BI, so it's always worth checking the official documentation or release notes for updates.
If you want to back populate historical data into your Scorecard, you would typically need to do this manually or through some scripting/automation process. Here are a few options to consider:
For a small number of historical check-ins, you can simply enter the data manually into the Scorecard.
If you have the historical data stored in another system (e.g., a database, Excel file, or CSV), you can import that data into Power BI and then use it to populate the Scorecard. This might involve creating a new dataset in Power BI and using the data import tools to bring in the historical data.
For larger datasets or more complex scenarios, you may want to consider using scripting or automation tools to populate the Scorecard. For example, you could write a PowerShell script or use a third-party tool to connect to Power BI and update the data in the Scorecard. However, this approach requires technical expertise and may involve working with Power BI's APIs.
Depending on your specific needs, you may want to consider building a custom solution that integrates with Power BI and allows you to back populate historical data into the Scorecard. This could involve creating a custom application or using a combination of existing tools and APIs.

Remember that Scorecards in Power BI are primarily designed for tracking current and future metrics, not historical data. If you need to track historical trends, you may want to consider using other Power BI features, such as line charts or trend analysis tools, to display the data in a more visual and intuitive way.
