PowerBi Gateway refresh ()

Hi Team,

I am trying to connect with enterprise gateway and one of the file which is saved on premises (desktop), is not getting added to gateway. Below is the error I am getting .. Please help.

"We encountered an error while trying to connect to . Details: "We could not register this data source for any gateway instances within this cluster. Please find more details below about specific errors for each gateway instance."

Assuming the SQL Server is onpremise and not in cloud, be sure the file Path is matching exactly with Power Bi Desktop and if you paste that one in a Browser Explorer in the Gateway machine will get the file.

The windows credentials should be added as "DOMAIN/windowsUserName". If you haven't configured a domain it would be the name of the machine (you can find it under This PC Properties).

I hope that helps to configure it correctly.

P/D be sure the file hasn't been configured with special private security to be open by some users.

Hi, can you provide more info? is the file hosted in the same server as the gateway? do you have any other sources in the dataset?

The error might be more than one thing like "the gateway can't reach the file".

You can always consider uploading file to drive to avoid gateway.

 hope that make sense,

Hi , I work for an enterprise and created a workspace whose data source is SQL server. Another source is a csv file which is stored on the same work environment (Remote desktop).

I tried to refresh the data manually, however got an error: "Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh."

I checked the dataset settings where under "Gateway connection", it is showing the name of the gateway, a radio button on it which is graded out and under status, it is showing "Not configured correctly"
Under Gateway connection< Action, it shows 2 data sources under the dataset out of which one is SQL which has been added to gateway and showing green tick on it however the file which I mentioned above (saved on the remote desktop environment), is not getting added to gateway. That's the error I have mentioned in my first post which you answered and want to know more about.

Please suggest where you find the issue is.
