PowerBI push data using API

Hii  

I am currectly working on powerBI push data set using the rest APIs, Is it mendetory to enabling "Service Principal can use Fabric API" Option either by applying with Org wide or on security group to use the APIs of PowerBI?

 

and could you please suggest if there are any security risk enabling "Service Principal can use Fabric API" Option either by applying with Org wide or on security group?

  1. Mandatory Requirement:
    Yes, enabling the "Service principals can use Fabric APIs" option is mandatory if you plan to use Power BI REST APIs with a service principal. You can apply this to the entire organization or specific security groups.

  2. Security Risks:

    • Org-Wide: Higher risk as all service principals in your tenant get access. Use this only if necessary.
    • Specific Security Groups: Safer, as it limits access to authorized service principals.

Recommendation: Use specific security groups for better control and minimize potential misuse.
