PowerBI gateway / postgresql / npgsql error 400

Good day,

please bear with me on this once, since I have no previous knowledge about PBI gateways but I was assigned to a project where I'm supposed to maintain one.

Our Client asked us to install npgsql on our VM gateway, so he can connect to his supplier's database (postgresql). I simply installed it on main drive and thought that it should be done (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Today he sent me a message that he received error 400. From provided screen I noticed that he is using basic authentication, so my thought is that supplier's DB required OAuth, not basic? But since it takes very long time for them to answer, I would like to be prepared. Is it more access / credentials issue or my installation was a mess?

    Hi Copycat ,

Regarding the error 400 your client encountered while attempting to connect to a PostgreSQL database via the Power BI Gateway, this error typically indicates a "Bad Request." It can occur due to various reasons, including invalid syntax in the request or authentication issues.

Confirm the authentication method required by the supplier's PostgreSQL database. If OAuth is indeed required, you'll need to set up OAuth credentials instead of using basic authentication.
