Hi,
I would like to share with you some key information which can save you a lot of time.
Recently I were strugling with connection between OpenStack Ubuntu MariaDB server and PowierBI Dataflow. To do that i create second virtual machine with windows and instal all require application (MariaDB, ODBC connector and PowerBI Gateway), create shared connection with Ubuntu Database to be used by Windows MariaDB. I test if I can connect to this datbase using PowerBI Desktop and everything working fine.
Bit when I whitch to PowerBI Dataflow are got an error:
An exception occurred: The 'Driver' property with value '{MariaDB ODBC 3.1 Driver}' doesn't correspond to an installed ODBC driver. (Session ID: "some id - i just remove it", Region: "some region - i just remove it")
I check the proxy, DSN, IP, Firewall, other windows version, also instal other connector type. Nothing helped. Today something touched me and I wanted to check if it was just a coincidence or if there was something to it. The latest version od ODBC which I installed was 3.2.5-GA but the message was about 3.1, so I remove the newest one and instal 3.1.21-GA and you know what?
Now I can establish PowerBi Dataflow connection.
Newest dosn't mean better.
I hope that this post can save your precious time (it tooks me couple days to figure it out).

Hi @Cosik ,
Thank you for sharing your experience!
This is a very helpful tip, especially for those trying to connect MariaDB with Power BI Dataflows. It's easy to assume that the latest driver version will always work, but as you found out, compatibility can sometimes depend on using a specific version.
Your solution using the 3.1.21-GA driver will definitely save others a lot of time and frustration.
Really appreciate you posting this for the community

Menaka.
