Hi All, Can we create such functionality in Power Bi . self service analytics - User will select any of the category sections and can create insights all stuff. Please let me know if this is possible/feasible to implement.Self Service Analytics
Hi. There are many possible scenarios for self service Bi that you can develop with Power Bi. You can let users build reports and dashboards from delimited data models, delimited tables or even from data warehouses or data bases.
If the question is about if it's possible then yes it is. Regarding the development you might want to get started with PowerBi learning at Microsoft Learning paths.
I hope that helps,
Happy to help!
Please let me know how we can build this and if yes please share the workbook or link to create it soon. that will solve my real problem
Thanks for replying.
We have build the Power BI Data Model with the Fact and Dimension needed the below self-service application features
Our Client Requirement as follows :-
1) End User when opens the Url then he should able to view the dimension and fact columns.
2) User can select the required fact and dimension columns to do the analysis (either he can select the check-boxes of the columns or drag and drop the columns).
3) User can add any visualisation to the report
Appreciate your timely repsonse and advice !!.
Hi. Ok, once you have your data model, you need to publish to a collaborative Workspace at Power Bi Service. The people creating or editing reports must have PRO licence. You can Manage Permissions of the published Dataset to grant read access. That access allows them to find the dataset from Power Bi Desktop or the DataHub at Power Bi Service. Both ways allow users to build reports from facts and dimensions.
Consider that it's most recommended using Power Bi Desktop and get data from PowerBi Dataset because that way a file with the development is created. You can persist, version and control that file. If someone creates directly from Power Bi Services and it's deleted or created at the Personal workspace and then quit the company.... the report will be lost.
After they finish the development at Power Bi Desktop, you can create different workspaces for the end users in many ways like department, teams, squads etc.
I hope that helps,
Happy to help!
