Power BI in Power Point presentation doesn't load all data!

Hi,

Recently I have discovered issue with power bi report loaded into power point presentation.

I have power bi object on many slides of power point presentation, when you open pptx file, you have to refresh power bi object on every slide. So to do that fast, you just click on every slide and data loads in background.

Today i discovered issue, that when you refresh all slides, and you do not wait till data load on each slide, the report is loaded without measures, e.g. only rows and columns are loaded for matrix table.

To repair issue, I have to close file - without saving - because when you save file, the power bi object will be saved in broken state.

Hi @CatoD ,

Is there any progress on this issue?

Did the suggestion from the other user help?

If you have any further related issues, please feel free to reply!

The issue isn't fixed. See my reply to SaiTejaTalasila

Hi  @CatoD, thank you for your feedback.

Normally the add-in only gets the data from Power BI when the slide is loaded or when the user manually refreshes the data being presented.

As a workaround, you can set the add-in to automatically pull fresh data from Power BI while the presentation is in slide show mode, this ensures that the presentation will always show the most recent data.

To enable automatic refresh, go to the add-in footer, select Add-in options, choose Slide show settings, check Automatic refresh in slide show, and set the desired frequency.

Thank you for suggestion, however it doesn't solve issue.

It's hard to explain, but I think, the Power BI add-in somehow deletes measures before pulling data.

So it doesn't matter if i set automatic refresh, when there is no information which data should add-in download.

Hi @CatoD ,

You can refer this article -

I hope it will be helpful.

Hi @SaiTejaTalasila

only recent - December 2024 - function reset helps a bit.

When the object doesn't load properly, you can now choose reset and then restore the report to the state it was in when it was initially embedded into the presentation.

However, you have to set up filters again. Also when you close and open ppix, the slides might be loaded without measures again - so you have to laod it, one by one.

Hi @CatoD

The is issue due to the way Power BI visuals embedded in PowerPoint handle asynchronous data loading.

Here is solution to fix it as:

1. Refresh Slides Sequentially

2. Use Manual Refresh for Key Slides

3. Do Not Save When Broken

4. Enable Persistent Connection

Happy to help!

Could you give me guide, how to enable persistent connection?
