Power BI Service query reference relationship error

Hi PowerBI Community,

I am facing some weird error in powerbi service which is not shown up in powerbi desktop.

While selecting the value from the district slicer in power bi service it throws the below error which is not visible in powerbi desktop:

Error fetching data for this visual:

The query referenced a relationship between '<oii>Bank</oii>'[<oii>SD</oii>] and '<oii>SD</oii>'[<oii>SD</oii>], which depends on a column that is not in a valid state.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks in advance!

In Power BI Desktop, check Bank[SD] and SD[SD] for:

  • Nulls → Replace or remove them
  • Data type mismatch → Ensure both are the same (e.g., text)

Check if RLS roles are active and unintentionally filtering the SD table.

Republish the report after fixing.

Thanks,
Bhavin
