Power BI Connection to Office Vibe "no 3rd party"

Hi,

I need help, please, I find no native Power BI Connectivity to Office Vibe to source employee participation and eNPS score data

I dont have finance to purchase 3rd party tools, Kindly advise what options i have for PBI to Office Vibe connectivity, please

I could setup a generic account on Office Vibe. Is there a standard API I can connect to? I hope its basic authentication and not token generation, as that would require 3rd party help from vendors as we dont have that option

Please any help

Regards

Hi @icassiem

To connect Power BI to Officevibe without third-party tools:

  1. Use Officevibe's API: Check Officevibe's API documentation for data access (employee participation, eNPS scores).
  2. Set Up Web Connector in Power BI: Go to Get Data > Web in Power BI, and use the API URL with basic authentication (or API keys if required).
  3. Authentication: If OAuth tokens are required, manually generate and use them in Power BI.
  4. Transform and Visualize Data: Once connected, transform and visualize the data as needed.

This avoids additional costs and third-party tools, but may require manual API setup.

@Poojara_D12  would a manual token be generated every time the reports refresh? this would be manual then

Hi @icassiem

Yes, if OAuth tokens are required for connecting Power BI to Officevibe's API, you would need to manually generate the token each time the report refreshes unless you automate the process. Without third-party tools or services to manage token renewal, you would be responsible for generating and updating the token manually each time Power BI needs to refresh the data.

To avoid this manual process, you can:

  1. Store the token in a separate location (like a file or database) and use it in your API queries, but it would still need to be refreshed periodically.

  2. Automate Token Generation: Write a script (using PowerShell, for example) to generate and retrieve the token automatically. This script could be integrated into your data pipeline, but it would require some coding and setup.

So, while you can avoid third-party tools, handling token expiration without manual intervention would need some form of automation or manual token management.

Thank you. for the automate option, I probably would require assistance from Office Vibe to provide me with a Postman version for keys, etc.

Do you perhaps have a link to the API documentation, please?

Hi @icassiem

You're welcome! Yes, to automate the token generation, reaching out to Officevibe support would be a good step to get the correct API documentation and potentially Postman setup details. Unfortunately, I don't have direct access to specific API documentation links for Officevibe, but you can usually find it in the following ways:

  1. Officevibe Support or Developer Portal:

    • Visit the Officevibe website and look for developer or API documentation, often found in the Support or Help sections.
  2. Contact Officevibe Support:

    • If the documentation isn't publicly available, you can directly contact their support team to request access to their API documentation, including authentication methods and API endpoints.
  3. Postman Collection:

    • If they provide a Postman collection, you can use it to test the API and automate token generation as needed.

Once you have access to the API documentation, you can set up the necessary calls and authentication methods for Power BI.

Thank you so much. I will keep you posted. I contacted our account manager yesterday already and got no reply, so I guess I have to be patient. My instructions are clear: if i cant automate then dont do it, which is kind of a 😞
