We have a workspace which contains only a report. The report utilizes a dataset in a separate workspace. Access to the report is controlled by an App on the workspace. We have granted read-only access to end users in the dataset.
I thought I could embed the report in a webpage, and limit access using the App. However, when the end user authenticates, they are prompted to request access. I am guessing this is because they have access to the App, but not to the report directly and the security from the App is not inherited by the report.
Curiously, if a user follows a link to the report in the PowerBI service they can view the report without issues. However, we'd really like to distribute the report using the webpage.
Is it possible to do this? How can I prevent legitimate users from being prompted to request access?
I have discovered that if users wait a few days after I add them to the App, the security works (for embedded report in website). Is this common behaviour? I changed nothing, and 2-3 days later everything seems to work as expected.
Naturally, after several days trying to figure this out I get it working soon after I post. Is it possible that the embed code from desktop is different from the embed code from the service? Could that be the difference here?
