Paginated Reports to E-mail with dynamic RLS

I'm currently trying to setup a weekly email report using paginated reports. My data contains list of regional managers and their emails. The report needs to be sent to each manager and they only need to see data from their own region.

How do I achieve this? Do I have to use Power Automate or is the Subscribe to emails in Service enough? I have Premium per User license.

Hi @Anonymous ,

If you want to set RLS for paginated reports, there are some prerequisites need to be met.

  • For row-level security (RLS) to work in Power BI Report Builder, You need at least a Viewer role in the dataset workspace, and Build permission for the dataset. Read about roles in workspaces.
  • You create paginated reports using the SQL Server Reporting Services engine, and not the Power BI (Analysis Services) engine, so you set up RLS filtering in Power BI Report Builder.

For more information, please refer to: Set up row-level security in Power BI paginated reports - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

You can set up email subscriptions for yourself and others for paginated reports in the Power BI service. In general, the process is the same as subscribing to reports and dashboards in the Power BI service. Paginated report subscriptions in the Power BI service are similar to email standard subscriptions in Power BI Report Server and SQL Server Reporting Services. In setting up subscriptions, you choose how often you want to receive the emails: daily, weekly, or hourly. The subscription contains a PDF attachment of the entire report output.
