I have a user who wants to set up an Onsite Premise Gateway but wants to path it to the client (desktop).
The user informed the DB is connected to a server. Onsite Premise Gateway is not recommended.
Is that true, setting up an Onsite Premise Gateway to a client (desktop), while the data is connected to a server?

Hi @Screener ,
Thanks for the reply from @SaiTejaTalasila , please allow me to provide another insight:
The gateway cannot be installed on a domain controller. When using the on-premises data gateway (standard mode) to access data sources on a remote domain, the gateway must be installed on a domain-joined computer that has a trust relationship with the target domain.
The on-premises data gateway is designed to facilitate secure data transfer between on-premises data sources and cloud services such as Power BI, PowerApps, and Azure Logic Apps. Therefore, the recommended approach is to install the on-premises data gateway on a dedicated computer or server in the network that is not a domain controller. This setup ensures that the gateway can effectively manage data transfer without interfering with the critical functions of the domain controller or affecting the security posture of the environment.

Hi @Screener ,
What is domain controller?.She can use a on-premises data gateway app incase if she wants a local gateway connection, but the connection will be down if her machine is in shutdown state and datasets won't refresh.
Thanks,
Sai Teja
