Hello,
We are facing an issue with starting the "On-Premises Data Gateway Service" under services.msc console. The status showing as Stopping and the options to start, restart is completely greyed out. If we launch the On-Premises data gateway application, it is not opening.
Please help to tell me how this stopping state issue can be fixed. Do we need to check anything in the config files.
Regards,
Tamil
Hi @tamilarasan11 ,
This sounds like a permissions issue on the Services within Windows itself. Make sure that you have a user with permission to start that service. And, perhaps use the Automatic Start option. The Windows admin will have to grant those permissions to the account(s) in question. Normally, you have to be an Admin on the server for this sort of thing but there are ways to set up specific services with non-Admin users.

Hi @collinq ,
The On-Premises Data Gateway service is running with NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService account under Services.msc console and the status showing as "Stopping". Earlier it was with Running state, I restarted and after that it went to stopping state. Now, I'm unable to start this service and if I launch the On-Premises data gateway application from Start menu, it's not loading.
Please tell me whether anything needs to be checked in the config files.

Tamil
Hey @tamilarasan11 ,
I think that we are getting a bit beyond my knowledge here - the service not starting could be based on some non-Power BI issues to do with the server or setup on the server or accounts.
