Hi
Working on a potensial project using the Power BI Enterprise Gateway. Came accros an interesting topic regarding sync of On-premise API data ( Internal API not available on internet) with the new On-Premise Gateway.
We use PBI Desktop to connect to a API (web query) and would like to Upload the PBIX to PowerBI Service. Then enable refresh of the Webquery through the Gateway. In list of available data source types web is listed as data source for the On-Premise Gateway
Anyone tested this? Or have any feedback on the topic?
thx for replys
@TheKnall In my experience using Web connector through power bi desktop and publishing to service, data gateway is not required to enable schedule refresh or refresh since data source is online.
In Power BI Services, On-Premise Gateway will access your local machine first. So even your API is not available on internet, it can still call the API via the URL request you set in On-Premise Gateway data source. Also schedule refresh is supported for web data source. Since you can connect it properly in Power BI Desktop, it suppose to work using Gateway.
