Hi Experts!
I'm working in a migration project, the idea is to move to Power BI Service from Power BI Report Server. I would like to have the recomendations and best practices of this community (I was digging a lot and now I decide to ask!).
We decided to create Workspaces by functional area (following the current folders in Report Server), and we will have a Workspace for PROD and one more with DEV. Production Workspaces will be published as an App.
Some questions I have: Shall we use the current groups define for Report Server and match them with Power BI roles (Admin, Member, Contributor, Viewer) or we should create new ones?
We currently have one "Power BI Developers" with write access in all the folders inside Power BI RS. Which is the best approach for that? Keep one developer group with access to all the workspaces? Do you recommend to restrict App publishing to dev users?
About Datasets and sharing... We should split model from reports in order to foment reutilization? Is it good to do it in this stage?
All users will have view access just to the App, but we probably will give access to special users to workspaces (to check report before publish it).
Who should be responsible of Workspaces creation? (We would like to start limiting this option).
Who should be responsible to publish the new app? (I'm thinking in a group able to Publish apps, but I'm not sure which is the best approach).
I think this is a good start, thanks for your time!
