Microsoft Access refresh error

Hello,
I have a question how to set up data update in Power BI Service for Microsoft Access source. I'm still seeing an error:

MessageMicrosoft Access: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine 2010 Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987.

I downloaded an add-on for the Desktop version, but I don't know what to do for the BI Service auto refresh. Is it possible to add an add-on for a  tenant, or how to update Access (.accdb) data? I have 32 bit Office 365 and Power BI.

Thank you for the advice!

Hi @Anonymous ,

PowerBI gateway only have 64bit one, as a result, when we refresh data via gateway, it requires a 64bit Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider, we need to install it on the local machine.

The same, a 32bit PowerBI desktop requires a 32bit Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider, in your scenario, you can install the 64bit Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider to meet this requirement, we can download it from https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=13255

Hello,
Thank you for your response. However, the data is stored on Sharepoint/OneDrive, so I don't need a gataway for on-premiss. Is it possible to have an Access file in the cloud and set up an automatic update? Thank you!

Hi @Anonymous ,

How did you connect to the Access file? Using the Sharepoint connector?

Best Regards,

Hello, thank you for your quick response.
I have data connected as SharePoint. Is any other functional connection possible? Or how to connect data from the cloud to Power BI Desktop / Service? Thank you

Hi @Anonymous ,

How did you access the Access file via Sharepoint Online? Based on my test, the Access file cannot be used as an online source.

Best Regards,

Teige

Hello,
Access, which is stored on SharePoint, I have connected as a web page. The BI Desktop connection is working properly, and the automatic update cannot be set when uploading to the BI Service.
