Is it possible to have List based alerts instead of having alerts based on one attribute one threshold. For example there is a list of customers and I want a alert everytime a certain customer purchases a certain product. I want to maintain a list of customers against products and would like to have alerts based on this list.

There's no such feature in Power BI. You can submit your request for more functionality of the alert at Power BI Ideas.
By the way, as per my experience, the best practice to implement that alert is in your data source end, eg. via a trigger or regular job in database. Power BI is only a tool for data presentation purpose.
