Hey guys,
finally found a way to connect my google sheets data with PowerBI.
FYI: (basically import your Google Spreadsheet data in form of an html table)
1. edit the Google Sheets URL:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/unique_key/edit#gid=1577191355
and exchange "edit#" with "gviz/tq?tqx=out:html&"
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/unique_key/gviz/tq?tqx=out:html&gid=1001054123
2. chose "New Source" -> "Web" -> Done 🙂
This works fine in PowerBI Desktop, but as soon as you try to update your report in the service there is an rror, which I can't manage to overcome.
The basic queries (no promoted headers or filters) runs into the following error:
The 'Column1' column does not exist in the rowset.
If I promote the headers in the query, the following error occurs:
The column 'XXX' of the table wasn't found.
Already tried to find a solution, but the only input from MS on this isue was:
"To resolve this issue, edit the data mappings for the affected tables. Or, remove the tables and then re-import them."
And that didn't really help me.
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Sebastian
@sguenther Strange enough, I followed your steps and didn't encountered any issues in publishing report or refreshing it.
@ankitpatira stranger enough, now this method doesn't work at all anymore for me. Tried to use a different google account (which may have different security settings) to maybe reproduce your successful refresh, but now the html table import doesn't even work in PowerBI Desktop anymore. Has anything been changed here by the devs?
