Hi,
I have numerous reports built before the ability to use on data model in the cloud.
I am wanting to redo my reports so that it runs off one data model. My question is...
Do I have to create a test PowerBI with the source data model.
Do I then use the desktop to connect to the online data model.
How do i then go about adding new measure and columns etc to the source data model?
Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,
If you can create measure and calculated column based on the original data model, it can be stored in it.

Hi @Anonymous,
After research, I am still confusing your requirement.
1. Your data resource is the source online?
2. You have many reports built in Power BI service?
3. You want to redo the reports using Power BI desktop?

Hi @v-huizhn-msft @Seth_C_Bauer
Unfortunatly we are not in the position to purchase any new software.
I am trying to have one data model that I store in the cloud that I can then access to create new reports that I then publish to the PowerBI service.
My question is when I create new measures etc do they store to the one data model?
Thanks

@Anonymous The ideal answer here is to use Azure Analysis Services Tabular models.
Your approach would work with limitations like you would be stuck in one workspace.
Logically, if you had a single Desktop that was your source, you should be able to publish changes to the dataset in the Service and have any new measures available in the other reports you build off the dataset.
