How to manage multiple users within my organization and assign specific codes to them?

Hello,

Perhaps this is not the right place to ask my question but - can someone advise as to how I'd be able to share a PBIX file through managing multiple user access (unique to each) based on assigning specific codes to them?

For example:

I have a PBIX file with Codes A1, B1, C1, D1 which are primary units used in the report. I want to include all 4 codes in a report but apply a filter such as you can select between each of the 4 variables. However, I want to assign a user to ONLY seeing A1, and not being able to select B1, C1, and D1, although the variables are available in the report.

Is this possible? If so, can you please provide directions as to how I can do this?

Thank you.

Hey @Anonymous ,

sure, that is possible with different roles and the role level security (RLS).

Check the following articles:

Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

What Do You Need to Implement Dynamic Row-Level Security in Power BI? - RADACAD

In Power BI you would create 3 differnt roles (A1, B1, C1, D1) and for each role you would filter the table (myTable[Code] = A1), something like this here:

In Power BI Service you would go to the data set in your workspace and assign the role to a specific user or active directory group.

If you need any help please let me know.
If I answered your question I would be happy if you could mark my post as a solution ✔️ and give it a thumbs up 👍
